Hillsong Worships' Hannah Hobbs and David Ware chat about 'No Other Name'.

Interview: Hillsong Worship ‘No Other Name’

Recently re-branded as ‘Hillsong Worship’ the musical leadership team across Hillsong Church have just debuted their 23rd worship album ‘No Other Name’

Unique in its expression of the importance of Christ, ‘No Other Name’  follows in the wake of history-making lyricists who’ve penned some of the Christian world’s most recognised anthems, with new singles ‘This I Believe’ and ‘Calvary’ already generating attention.

The Connect Press sat down with Worship Leaders Hannah Hobbs and David Ware for 5 minutes of fun and insight into the project:

Which Marvel character would you be?

David: Hulk…but just Hulk. I never switch back.

Hannah: Iron Man. Definitely.

Which would you give up: Mexican food or sugar?

Hannah: Mexican food.

David: Sugar. Then I might get fit.

You’re at a party, your friends form a circle, throw you in the middle and say “Show us what you got.” What move do you bust out?

Hannah: My talents in that area are very minimal, but I would say some kind of bad Beyonce crump.

David: I have a mean belly-dancing routine that I pull out at parties…

Who has the best style: Joel Houston, Carl Lentz, or Taya Smith?

Hannah: Without a doubt I have to say Taya Smith, hands down, she wins…

David: Taya. Taya Smith. 100%. She gets out of bed and she’s got style.

The album ‘No Other Name’, it’s a strong title – what’s the concept?

David: Well basically it was a theme that a couple of our key guys came up with for [this year’s Conference], and the songs that were coming out of church were very heavily around the power that’s in the name of Jesus. And I guess the heart behind it is, you know the name of Jesus gets watered down so much in society, used as a cuss word, as all that kind of stuff you would hear from day-to-day, but when it comes to healing and salvation and things of the heart and the spirit, there is actually no other name but the name of Jesus that can restore your life, that can save you. And you can never go wrong as a Believer just declaring the name of Jesus.

Hannah: The really cool thing was, our Creative Team where thinking about different concepts and what to do with the cover of the album, and one of the amazing things that came about, was that we were able to plaster that phrase “No Other Name” in Time Square in New York City for an hour – all over Time Square and we were able to capture that. And it’s an incredible thing to be able to declare over a city, really across the world that there really is no other name like the name of Jesus. It’s also a phrase that isn’t so direct…

David: It strikes curiosity, “What is this ‘Name’?”

Hannah: Yeah, “What does that mean?” – it was super exciting.
